Opening your account

How to open an account for a Japanese citizen under 18 years old?

*Japanese nationals are required to fill in their full name into the Kanji name and Katakana name sections.

Please return the application form and other necessary documents to us. The account will be opened within one to two weeks after we receive the documents.

For customers under the age of 18, at least one parent (legal representative)must have an account at SBI Shinsei Bank. Please be aware that the funds must belong to the account holder (minor).

■If the account holder is under the age of 13
The transactions must be made by the parent (legal representative)who has a PowerFlex account.
Personal seal (Hanko) is required to register.
*Customers who are under 13 years old will be required to fill out an additional document (only in Japanese).

■If the account holder is aged 13 and over and under 18 years old
The transactions can be made by either a minor or a parent (legal representative).
Please submit the necessary documents depending on who makes transactions. Signature or Personal seal (Hanko) is required to register.
*If customers who are 13 years old or older will manage the funds in the account by themselves, they will be required to fill out an additional document (only in Japanese).

*If the legal representative will manage the funds on behalf of customers who are 13 years or older, they will be required to fill out an additional document (only in Japanese).

■Required identification documents for account opening of customers who are under 18 years old.
An identification document must confirm the relationship between the account holder (minor) and his/her parent(s) as well as name, date of birth and current address of the account holder(minor). Please be informed that the necessary identification document may differ based on the parental details.

Two parents:
Please submit one of the following:
•An original copy of the residence certificate called "jyuminhyo(住民票)" confirming the relationship with both parents and account holder (minor).

OR

•An original copy of family register called “kosekitohon(戸籍謄本)” along with a supplementary family register called “fuhyo(附票)” Note:
•A photocopy is not acceptable.
•The document must be issued within the last 6 months.

Single parent
Please submit the following:
•An original copy of family register called “kosekitohon(戸籍謄本)” along with a supplementary family register called “fuhyo(附票)”
