Opening your account

How to open an account for Japanese citizen under 18 years old?

*Japanese nationals are required to fill in their full name into the Kanji name and Katakana name columns.


Please send back the application form and other necessary documents to us.
New account will be opened in one to two weeks after the documents reach us.

For customers under the age of 18, either of the parents must have an account at SBI Shinsei Bank. Please be aware that the funds must belong to a minor.


■If the account holder is under the age of 13
The transactions must be made by either of the parents who have a PowerFlex account.
Personal seal (Hanko) is required to register.
*Customers who are under 13 years old will be required to fill out additional document (only in Japanese).

■If the account holder is aged 13 and over and under 18 years old
The transactions can be made by either a minor or a parent (a legal representative).
Please submit the necessary documents depending on who makes transactions. Signature or Personal seal (Hanko) is required to register.

*If customers who are 13 years old or older will manage the funds in the account by themselves, they will be required to fill out an additional document(only in Japanese).

*If a legal representative will manage the funds on behalf of customers who are 13 years or older, they will be required to fill out an additional document (only in Japanese).


■Required Identification Document for account opening of customers who are under 18 years old.
An identification document must certify a relationship between the account holder (minor) and his/her parents as well as name, date of birth and current address of the account holder.
Please be informed that the identification document required is different depending on the number of parents.


When there are both parents:
Please submit one of the following.
An original copy of residence certificate called "jyuminhyo(住民票)" confirming a relationship with a legal representative.

OR

A family register called “kosekitohon(戸籍謄本)” along with supplementary family register called “fuhyo(附票)”
*A photocopy is not acceptable.
*A document must be issued within 6 months.


When there is one parent:
